Medical Provident Fund



The ESB Staff Medical Provident Fund, which was established in 1955, is a non-profit contributory health insurance scheme committed to ensuring that members have access to the highest quality of healthcare within a reasonable period of time and at affordable subscription rates.

Staff of ESB Group are eligible to apply for membership. Spouses/partners of members and dependent children are eligible for Associate Membership.

The primary objective of the Fund is to assist members in the payment of medical expenses in accordance with the schedule of benefits set down in the Rules and amended from time to time.

Members of the Fund have the option of contributing to two schemes. The ordinary Scheme covers semi-private accommodation in all public and most private hospitals and the Extra Benefits Scheme generally covers all accommodation in private hospitals and shared accommodation in the Blackrock Clinic and Mater Private Hospital.

Cover is also provided for a range of outpatient services, including Consultant, GP Fees and other out-patients services such as Physiotherapy and Psychology, Drug Costs and a range of Alternative Medicines. Full details can be seen in the guide section
